1.You have to ask for a NIE (Foreigner Identification Number). It is a fundamental document, compulsory and also works for any financial transaction in Spain.
2.Where I can get it? It is given in the foreign office or the police station if requested before, or the country of origin. Is also given ex officio when starting any administrative procedure.
3.Banks: Although you are not required, we recommend you to have a bank account in Spain to pay taxes and associated costs of buying a home (VAT if it is new and the ITP for resale homes).
4.Payments: You have to pay the IRNR (Income Tax Non-Resident) that is a direct tax on income in Spain by non-residents.
